I do not consider myself an expert photographer as I can't afford a digital SLR and I'm too lazy to buy an old film camera! I studied photography briefly at university, so I understand the techniques of thirds, headroom and leadroom.
I do not like what the 'social networking age' has done for pictures; being tagged in hundreds of low quality pictures of people just smiling at the camera on a usual lash-up in town. I am a fan however of flickr, as its photo repository allows you to view brilliantly photos in glorious quality, all within its simple interface.
I currently own a Canon IXUS 500 which is a powerful little camera! When you learn about focus, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, ISO speed and turn auto off you can achieve impressive results. I also thrive off a bit of photoshoppery and over the years I have produced some compositions incorpoating various elements and thematic styles. So here is a slice of my work and be sure to check out my flickr account for more visual meganess...
Compositions I have strung together from photographs and other elements. Mixed together with effort and love:
